Something about me

I'm a vegetarian, coffee-addicted and tea-fanatic, San Francisco based citizen of the world.

I enjoy

  • cooking and having completely changed my diet make it a continuous challenge and discovery
  • hiking, slowly and with no real purpose, ok I should call it walking
  • reading whatever my brain finds amusing and interesting
  • watching TV series with the excuse of improving my English.

I have a nuclear engineering background (worked as one for a few years), and learned through the years and the experience what I like most.

I like software engineering and data analysis.

I like the first for its systematic and quantifiable approach (thanks Wiki for the words) and the latter for the ability of modeling data looking for patterns, trying to predict outcomes and trends.
I like writing software so those processes and computations can be quick, correct, and automated.
Nothing is left to chances, everything is disciplined. You can't just say that something works in a particular way just because you wake up a morning and feel that way, you have to prove it.

I also discovered recently an interest for system administration with the main purpose of being in charge of my computer and not being controlled. I like the feeling of knowing what's going on and that I can be able to modify or automate something if I want to.

I'm not the world greatest expert on it, but I really love and enjoy what I do :)
